A mechanic on the buyer's side.

I'm a qualified, working mechanic based in Doncaster, and I do mobile used car checks for buyers. I check the car for you, the buyer, and nobody else.

Why the check matters.

Most used cars look fine on a driveway. The problems sit underneath: a fault code that was cleared the day before, filler under a respray, a gearbox that only complains when it is warm.

I go through the car by eye and with a dealer-level diagnostic scan. I check the body, the underbody, the tyres and brakes, the fluids, the computers and I take it on a road test.

I come to wherever the car is parked, so you don't have to move it or book it into a garage. Take a look at the areas I cover.

Facts first. Then the decision.

You walk away with a clear verbal answer on the spot, a report on your phone and, with Premium, a repair cost list to negotiate with. See what each inspection includes. What happens next is your call.

Dealer-level diagnostics

A basic code reader shows what the car wants to tell you. My unit reads deeper: hidden faults, cleared codes and pending issues across the engine, gearbox, ABS and airbags.

Digital paint depth gauge

Paint thickness shows where a panel has been repaired or filled. It is one of the clearest signs of a past accident, and I include it in the Premium inspection.

The report on your phone

I send the scan result as a PDF fault report to your phone, so you have a record to keep, to share and to check against the seller's story.

How I do a used car check.

  1. I write the report for you, the buyer.

  2. I explain what I find in plain English.

  3. I don't sell anything on top of the inspection.

  4. My aim is facts you can negotiate with.
